This is a bunch of stuff I've wanted to change and been afraid to, but I think it's time. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a movie must mean.... 1000 pictures? I don't know. But, here:

It's not ready for merge yet.

Some stuff left to do -

• Make sure to add attribution for the icons I'm using
• Add new CSS styles for the 'fallback' CSS modes
• Make sure to clean out some of the unused code
• Make sure to handle errors, timeouts, and such appropriately (don't want a spinner hanging out forever!)
• Make sure to move the new standalone icons into the ./dist directory (and make sure they'll publish).
• Consider adding the rest of the core JS to the dist directory so people can use this in a JS 'modules' context and get the appropriate amount of tree-shaking and whatnot.
• Lots and lots and lots of testing
• Figure out how to handle Challenge modes as well
