Announcements of changes in our systems and in our provided data sets, latest first.

## [2026-08-26] Announcements with data release 2026-08-26

- the new layer _ch.bfe.energiestaedte-nachhaltige_areale_ has now been published with this release. As previously announced the layer _ch.bfe.energiestaedte-2000watt-areale_ will be removed from chsdi services with the release of October 28th.
- the layer _ch.bafu.alpweiden-herdenschutzhunde_ has been replaced by a new layer _ch.bafu.alpweiden-mit_herdenschutzhunden_ with this release. It's currently still available with it's data status frozen from spring 2026, but will be removed from chsdi services (especially also WMTS) with a later release. The new layer _ch.bafu.alpweiden-mit_herdenschutzhunden_ is continuously updated automatically and therefore available via mapviewer, WMS, API and STAC, but not via WMTS.
- as previously announced the layer _ch.swisstopo.geologie-geocover_ will be removed with a later release. It's being substituted by 6 new layers representing swisstopo's product [swissGEOCOVER2D](https://www.swisstopo.admin.ch/en/geological-model-2d-geocover). These new layers are now available (see releasenotes).
- The data collections _ch.bfs.betriebszaehlungen-arbeitsstaetten_, _ch.bfs.betriebszaehlungen-beschaeftigte_vollzeitaequivalente_ and _ch.bfs.volkszaehlung-bevoelkerungsstatistik_einwohner_ have been replaced by 2 new data collections _ch.bfs.betriebszaehlungen_ and _ch.bfs.statistik-bevoelkerung_haushalte_. They will therefore soon be removed from service STAC while the corresponding layers in mapviewer, WM(T)S and API stay in place.
- after some symbology changes on the 8 _ch.bazl.laermbelastungskataster-zivilflugplaetze*_ layers the corresponding WMS layer group had to be removed due to technical reasons.

## [2026-07-27] Planned removal of layer ch.bfe.energiestaedte-2000watt-areale

The layer _ch.bfe.energiestaedte-2000watt-areale_ will be removed from chsdi services with the release of October 7th. The layer will be replaced by a new layer, _ch.bfe.energiestaedte-nachhaltige_areale_, which will presumably be published with the release of August 26th.
