We are a FIRST Robotics Competition team located in Beaverton, Oregon. We participate in a yearly competition in which we have six weeks to build and compete with a robot.
Within our team, we have sub-teams such as:
- Programming
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Marketing
- CAD
- And more!
Below are some of our featured projects.
- Swerve - This is our template repository for each years robot code, written in Kotlin. It is kept up to date with the latest years version of libraries and features.
- Beaverlib - This is our Kotlin library with a variety of helpful tools and features. It has branches for year-specific features (both main season and off-season events, such as Bunnybots), as well as the main branch for year-agnostic features.
- Website repository - This is the repository that is a source for our website, which can be viewed at https://team5970.org. Our website is built and hosted by Cloudflare.
- Subteam quiz - This is a quiz designed to identify what sub-team is best for a person.
This page summarizes the past seasons from a technical view. For a summary of how we did overall with more details about the year, check out our page on our past robots.
| Year | Robot | Competitions | How we did |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 - REBUILT | Crystal Skull | Week 2 Wilsonville, Week 4 CAIS | This year was our first competition year with a swerve drivetrain, which went decently well. We had initial issues with odometry and field-oriented drive at Wilsonville, along with vision issues. We had cameras for vision put on the robot but ultimately did not have any autos or any other features that used it due to time constraints and issues with the Orange Pi 5. We did have a preload auto. |

| 2025 - REEFSCAPE | Radek | Week 2 CAIS, Week 4 Wilsonville | While this year was supposed to be our first year with swerve, due to shipping delays we did not have a swerve drivetrain and had to swap back to west-coast drive before our first competition. This robot was pretty simple as we didn't have any fancy odometry or sensors. We did have one preload auto. |

| 2024 - CRESCENDO | Beyoncé | Week 1 CAIS, Week 4 Wilsonville | This year was an attempt at having vision, with a co-processor and two cameras mounted. However we did not have time to get this working and instead the cameras were used as driver cams. We had a preload auto but besides that, it was a rather simple robot. |
