Grouped Task View 1.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@alienware377 alienware377 released this 30 Jun 19:52

What's new in 1.2.0

  • Replace system Task View (optional). A new tray-menu toggle makes the grouped overlay also take over when Task View is opened by means other than Win+Tab - the taskbar Task View button or the touch edge-swipe gesture. Off by default; tick Replace system Task View in the tray icon's right-click menu.
  • Instant touch drag. Dragging a window or group by touch no longer stalls before it moves - Windows' press-and-hold gesture detection is turned off on the overlay, so the drag follows your finger immediately.
  • Smoother dragging. The overlay is cached while you drag, so motion stays fluid even on a busy desktop.

Install

Download GroupedTaskView-Setup.exe below and run it (per-user, no admin rights). The installer is self-signed, so SmartScreen may show a prompt - More info ? Run anyway.

Grouped Task View 1.1.0

@alienware377 alienware377 released this 27 Jun 17:28

What's new in 1.1

  • Native-style drag — dragging a window or app group onto a desktop now lifts the live thumbnail off its tile, floats it (shrunk) under the cursor on top of everything, and leaves the original spot empty.
  • Rename groups — right-click any group and choose Rename.
  • Custom grouping rules — a new Settings window (from the tray icon) lets you author rules: match an app name or .exe and assign a group name. Give several rules the same name to merge apps into one group. Rules persist between restarts.
  • Thumbnail size is capped so a near-empty desktop shows windows at a sensible size.

Install

Download GroupedTaskView-Setup.exe and run it (self-signed — SmartScreen: More info then Run anyway). Or grab the portable GroupedTaskView.exe. Press Win+Tab.

Full feature list and the customise-grouping guide are in the README.
