Linkora Code of Conduct

The Pledge

I pledge to make this community welcoming, safe, and equitable for all.

I do not care about your race, gender, religion, background, or any other personal trait. All that matters here is a quality contribution to the project and that you treat others with basic human decency. The same privileges of participation are extended to everyone who participates in good faith and follows this Covenant.

Encouraged Behaviors

While acknowledging differences in social norms, I expect everyone to meet community expectations for positive behavior. I also understand that words and actions may be interpreted differently than intended based on culture, background, or native language.

Furthermore, I expect anyone associated with this project to possess common sense, a clear sense of consciousness, and basic situational comprehension. If you have these traits, you will behave like the considerate, regular human beings I want in this community.

With this in mind, participants must behave mindfully toward each other and support these values:

  1. Respecting the purpose of this community, the activities, and ways of gathering.
  2. Engaging kindly and honestly with others.
  3. Respecting different viewpoints and experiences, as long as they are clearly not stupid.
  4. Taking responsibility for actions and contributions.
  5. Taking technical criticism about your code without taking it personally.
  6. Owning up to your mistakes and fixing them.
  7. Acting in other ways that keep the well-being of this community healthy.

Restricted Behaviors

Do not do the following things in this community. Instances, threats, and promotion of these behaviors are violations of this Code of Conduct.

  1. Harassment. Violating explicitly expressed boundaries or engaging in unnecessary personal attention after any clear request to stop.
  2. Character attacks. Making insulting, demeaning, or pejorative comments directed at a community member or group of people. Bluntness is fine when it's aimed at an idea, decision, or code, that is not a violation. The second it is aimed at a person instead, even using the same kind of language, it is a different thing entirely, and that is where this Code of Conduct kicks in.
  3. Stereotyping or discrimination. Characterizing anyone’s personality or behavior on the basis of immutable identities or traits.
  4. Sexualization. This is a technical space. Keep interactions strictly relevant to the work.
  5. Violating confidentiality. Sharing or acting on someone's personal or private information without their permission.
  6. Endangerment. Causing, encouraging, or threatening violence or other harm toward any person or group.
  7. Behaving in other ways that threaten the well-being of this community.

Other Restrictions

  1. Misleading identity. Impersonating someone else for any reason, or pretending to be someone else to evade enforcement actions.
  2. Failing to credit sources. Not properly crediting the sources of content you contribute.
  3. Promotional materials. Sharing marketing or other commercial content in a way that is outside the norms of the community.
  4. Irresponsible communication. Failing to responsibly present content which includes, links or describes any other restricted behaviors.

Reporting an Issue

Tensions can occur even when people try to collaborate. Not every conflict is a code of conduct violation, but following this Code of Conduct helps avoid problems and minimize harm.

When an incident does occur, it is important to report it promptly. To report a possible violation, email sakethh@proton.me with the subject line "Linkora CoC Violation". Include what happened, where it happened, and who was involved if known. I will review the report and reply with what is being done about it once I have looked into it.

I take reports of violations seriously and will respond promptly. I will investigate all reports of code of conduct violations, reviewing messages, logs, and recordings, or interviewing witnesses and other participants. I will keep investigation and enforcement actions as transparent as possible while prioritizing safety and confidentiality. I handle bans privately, but if a situation impacts the wider project, I will announce the outcome publicly.

Addressing and Repairing Harm

If my investigation finds that this Code of Conduct has been violated, I take immediate and decisive action. Because I expect a baseline of common sense, consciousness, and basic comprehension from all participants, I do not utilize a tiered ladder of warnings.

If a member's actions are deemed obviously stupid, blatantly malicious, or clearly detrimental to the community's well-being, the consequence is straightforward:

  • Permanent Ban
  • Event: A violation of this Code of Conduct that demonstrates an obvious lack of common sense, disregard for basic human decency, or poses a threat to community safety.
  • Consequence: Access to all community spaces, tools, and communication channels is permanently removed.
  • Repair: There is no possible repair in cases of this severity.

This enforcement policy is strictly intended as a guideline to keep this space safe. It does not limit my ability to use my discretion and judgment in keeping with the best interests of this community.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies in all community spaces and when you represent the community publicly. Examples of representing this community include using an official email address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.
