Custom Filetype Detection

Is it possible to explicitly change icons for files that match a particular pattern? For example, I have changed the filetypes for C++ headers, but it doesn't work in Nvim Tree.

ft.add {
    pattern = {
        ['.*/include/.*'] = 'cpp',
    },
}
