Options to evaluate

Option Pros Cons
Google Analytics 4 Industry standard, free, powerful Privacy concerns, cookie banners, Google dependency
Plausible Privacy-friendly, no cookies, lightweight Paid ($9/mo) unless self-hosted
Umami Privacy-friendly, open source, self-hostable Requires hosting if self-hosted
GitHub Insights Free, no setup, built in Very basic (views/clones/referrers only), no page-level data
None Zero maintenance No visibility into site usage

Questions to answer

  • Do we actually need detailed analytics, or is GitHub Insights sufficient?
  • If we use a third-party service, who manages the account?
  • Are there Commonhaus Foundation guidelines or shared infrastructure for this?
  • Does WildFly or RESTEasy track usage on their sites? If so, how?
