Keyboard layout chosen in void-installer is not preserved after first boot for both LightDM and XFCE

Expected behaviour

The keyboard layout selected during installation should be automatically applied to both the LightDM login screen and the installed XFCE session after the first boot.

Actual behaviour

The keyboard layout selected during installation is not applied after installation. Both the LightDM login screen and the XFCE session use the default keyboard layout, requiring manual reconfiguration after installation.
I selected the Turkish Q (trq) keyboard layout during installation. After the first boot, both the LightDM login screen and the XFCE session use the default US keyboard layout instead of the selected layout.

Steps to reproduce

1. Boot the void-live-x86_64-20250202-xfce.iso image.
2. Start the Void Linux installer.
3. Select trq (Turkish Q) as the keyboard layout during installation.
4. Complete the installation and reboot into the installed system.
5. Observe the keyboard layout used by the LightDM login screen.
6. Log in to the XFCE session and observe the keyboard layout.

Result: Both LightDM and the XFCE session use the default US keyboard layout instead of the selected trq layout.

the installer doesn't do anything about xkb layouts at runtime or in the system it installs. you can set the keyboard layout in the xfce settings while in the live iso

Just to clarify: is the keyboard layout selection in void-installer intended to be used only during the installation process itself, with no expectation that it will be propagated to the installed system?

My expectation was that the layout selected during installation would be applied to the installed system as well, including the LightDM login screen and the initial XFCE session after first boot. If that is not currently intended behavior, should this be considered a feature request rather than a bug report?

the keyboard selection only applies the console layout, both during the installer and in the installed system

there was a PR that at least partially added the xkb handling: #437

anyhow, a local install is 95% copying the live iso to the target, so if the xkb layout was changed in a lightdm or xfce config file globally, it might transfer over
