Jackson3JsonPayloadConverter(JsonMapper) constructor not visible to javac — only present in META-INF/versions/17/

Expected Behavior

new Jackson3JsonPayloadConverter(jsonMapper) compiles successfully in a Java 17+ project with Jackson 3 on the classpath, mirroring the runtime behavior where the JVM resolves the (JsonMapper) constructor.

Actual Behavior - javac in intelliJ throws error

Note: running with mvn/gradle is fine, only issue with javac

We're certainly still affected by this. The issue is the main version and Java 17 override version of Jackson3JsonPayloadConverter have different APIs which as OP says, doesn't always play well with javac despite compiling fine when building with maven/gradle. Our issue is the Jackson3JsonPayloadConverter(JsonMapper mapper) constructor missing from the main version but present in the Java 17 version but any difference in methods could be a problem for others, e.g. newDefaultJsonMapper which is also missing from the base version.

Just a note, I placed a fix in the community thread:

This allows the code to compile and run without deferring to maven in the IDE. You can't solve this with profiles. I attempted using a non-bundled SDK with the original code, but gave up after 2 or 3 didn't work either.

I additionally opened a bug with IntelliJ, but it was closed as duplicate.
