Use of hardware abstraction with UDP

I recently found Arduino-Emulator and am intrigued by the remote UDP hardware abstraction capability.
I have been unable to find any additional information or sample server(?) code to use this functionality.
Poring over the code hasn't really helped either.
Could you please direct me to some relevant resources?

I never provided any complete implementation and have only some DRAFT Proof of Concept.

Maybe it would be worth to convert this into a simple arduino library and provide some generic callback

This all looks very cool.
There is one thing I have not been able to figure out. How does the UDP Auto-discovery work?
I was assuming a broadcast UDP packet with "Arduino-Emulator" and two more bytes as a payload, but that doesn't seem to be working.
