Agreed — being more lenient with input parsing would improve the developer experience significantly, especially when MCP servers are called programmatically from orchestration layers.

In our experience building document workflow pipelines with MCP, we've found that strict input validation at the protocol level causes friction when chaining multiple servers together. For example, when an OCR server passes extracted text to a document analysis server, the intermediate data formats can vary unexpectedly.

We've been addressing this in AI Workdeck by implementing a middleware layer that normalizes inputs between MCP server calls — think of it like an MCP "adapter" pattern for legal document workflows.

A lenient parsing mode with clear deprecation warnings (rather than hard failures) would be a nice middle ground.
