Joycon disconnects, app doesn't recognize when it reconnects

My joycon spontaneously turns off and disconnects from the mac. When I turn it on, the mac connects to bluetooth, but this app doesn't recognize the joycon. I have to quit the app and restart it and then go to settings before it works again. This is cumbersome when it happens 8x every study session. Please fix! Thank you
