Getting 720p live stream

I would have expected adding

self.at(ardrone.at.config, 'video:video_codec', '131')

to ARDrone's constructor to do the trick. But I'm still getting 360p video. Any ideas?

I would think that would work. The AR.Drone Developer's Guide is a bit vague on when you can send CAT_SESSION settings (as opposed to CAT_COMMON like general:navdata_demo and control:altitude_max) so you might try sending it some time after initialization.

Are you trying to get 720p from the front-facing camera, not the one on the bottom?

Can you upload a capture file using Wireshark with the filter 'ar_drone'? To clarify, start a capture with Wireshark, try to control the drone and request a 720p stream, then stop the capture and send me the file.

It turns out the ar_drone filter does not show navdata or video stream packets. Can you give me the entire pcap? If you aren't comfortable with that, the filter 'ar_drone or tcp.port == 5555' should get what I'm looking for.

The drone is very clearly ignoring the codec request. The developer guide and ARDroneLib are relatively useless at this point in figuring out how to get 720p video. I also cannot find another driver which supports 720p. Perhaps you can try sending the config before self.at(ardrone.at.config, 'general:navdata_demo', 'TRUE') and adding a sleep (something like 0.5s should be more than enough) to be sure the config is acknowledged before the driver attempts to initiate a video stream.

Didn't work. I think I can make do with 360p for now. Please let me know if you figure something out.

Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the AR.Drone 2.0 I used to develop this driver. If you can get a pcap capture of an application or other driver successfully negotiating 720p, I can replicate that, but I can't do much investigation myself except looking at the developer guide and other drivers people have written.
