Posted a bug report on gitlab https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/951
leaving it here as well just in case someone has an idea.. experience using Surface Go is otherwise perfect, but this bug is very annoying..

found that mutter crashes after 300 taps.. reported the bug to mutter devs.
