It should focus on how to get raw text, not an image. i got it to do this at one point but the code's been lost in the development of my own program.

This is the only part that changes if you are downloading an image, everything else applies generally (this is just writing the downloaded data straight to the framebuffer):

You can also use sockets and libcurl:
