Describe the enhancement you want to request

The desktop version is unable to properly manage the sessions of submodules in Git.

I could confirm that this is not a duplicate: Others are all about git worktree, not git submodule.

Though they maybe related, both manifested as a root project directory under ".git" hidden directory that should not be used:

Can confirm: When I try to open a project that is a submodule in the Desktop App (Mac, Version 1.14.22), the project folder is switched and not usable.

Opened working folder: /main_repository/sub_repository
What is actually opened: /main_repository/.git/modules

From the CLI, starting a project from the submodule repository is working fine.
