What are the basic rules for doing an audit at the end of the financial year?

It is not obligatory for non-profit associations to have an inspection authority.

Non-profit associations can choose from 3 types of inspection authorities:

1. an audit committee (usually 2 members)
2. a controller
3. an auditor

None of them can be members of the management board.

An auditor is usually ordered for one instance (the service is bought from a provider) or appointed for a specific period. A controller or an audit committee can also be chosen from the association’s members and can be appointed with the resolution of the general meeting for one instance or a specific period.
