keyboard not auto swapping back to main keyboard and capitalising

When switching to symbol view, the keyboard does not switch back to main keyboard even though the setting is turned on.

Also shift does not switch to uncapitalised lettering after pressing it once, so remains capitalised until switch off.

App version
3.8.6

Until this problem is resolved, hold down the Shift key; you don't need to turn it off to get lowercase.

I'm not sure I understand the recommendation. If I just hold Shift, it turns on Caps Lock (which is how Shift is functioning anyway). If I hold down Shift while tapping a letter, Shift remains stuck, and the next letter is still capitalized.

Double-clicking activates caps lock, and it no longer switches back to lowercase. It switches to lowercase by holding down the Shift key, but the problem I'm currently experiencing is that it used to switch to lowercase after typing the initial capital letter, but now it continues to type in capital letters.
