I think it would be better to add not only a shortcut prefix for this feature, but also a shortcut suffix.
The benefit of adding a suffix is that expansion can feel more natural. For example:
Time→
and then it expands to the current time
And, for example, to implement the calculator feature I mentioned in issue #190, something like this could be done:
Prefix: [
Suffix: ]=
Template expansion: %calculate result%
I’m mentioning this only as an idea to make the possible use of prefix and suffix clearer.
This would make the workflow feel much more intuitive.
Also, if possible, I’d suggest supporting not only global shortcut prefix/suffix settings, but also per-shortcut custom prefix/suffix. That would make it possible to define many more shortcuts.
These per-shortcut prefix/suffix settings should be optional and disabled by default.
