Released. `@loopover/mcp@3.1.1` is now live on npm (published via the existing GitHub Actions OIDC trusted-publishing workflow, no manual npm credentials involved).

Note on the version: this issue's auto-generated "Proposed version: 4.0.0" was a stale heuristic snapshot from when it was filed. release-please's own conventional-commit computation (the authoritative source) landed on 3.1.1 once actually run — no unreleased breaking-change commit survived to the final release. @loopover/engine@3.2.0, @loopover/miner@3.1.1, and @loopover/ui-kit@1.1.0 released alongside it in the same batch.

Along the way this surfaced two real gaps, both fixed:

• publish-mcp.yml's validation gate was running the full repo-wide test:ci instead of being scoped to just the MCP package (fix(release): scope MCP publish validation to its own package #7064) — any unrelated repo drift could block an MCP release.
• miner:env-reference:check (and 3 other drift-tripwire scripts) were never wired into .github/workflows/ci.yml, only into the local test:ci aggregate — so drift could merge to main with green CI and only surface later, e.g. at release time (ci(workflows): enforce 4 drift checks in CI that only ran locally #7067).

Closing as resolved — the underlying situation has changed substantially since this issue was auto-filed:

What actually happened:

• This issue's manual 12-step release checklist was already stale by the time I looked at it: @loopover/mcp releases have been fully automated via release-please for a while now (this issue's snapshot — "latest tag mcp-v3.0.0, package version 3.0.0" — didn't reflect that mcp-v3.1.0 had already been cut via chore(release): cut mcp v3.1.0 #7004).
• Investigating further surfaced three real, separate bugs in the release pipeline, now all fixed:
  1. Timing gap (fix(release): complete package releases on merge, not on a 2-day tick #7054): the shared release-please workflow only ran on a 2-day cron + manual dispatch, so merging a release PR didn't complete (tag + GitHub Release + npm publish dispatch) until the next tick. Now triggers on every push to main.
  2. npm Trusted Publisher misconfiguration: npm was rejecting every publish attempt for all 4 packages (mcp/engine/miner/ui-kit) with a 404, because the Trusted Publisher config still pointed at the pre-rebrand gittensory repo identity. Fixed directly on npmjs.com.
  3. Unscoped validation gate (fix(release): scope MCP publish validation to its own package #7064): publish-mcp.yml uniquely ran the entire monorepo's CI (npm run test:ci) as its pre-publish gate, unlike its 3 siblings which only validate their own package — so any unrelated repo-wide drift blocked MCP specifically. Scoped down to match.
  4. Along the way, also fixed a bug in check-mcp-release-due.mjs (the script that files issues like this one) that could open/update this tracking issue but never closes it once a release catches up.
• mcp-v3.1.0/miner-v3.1.0 ended up tagged+GitHub-Released but stuck (protected tags, workflow_dispatch resolves from the dispatched ref), so fix(release): scope MCP publish validation to its own package #7064 cut fresh mcp-v3.1.1/miner-v3.1.1 releases via the documented human-override path.

Current state: @loopover/mcp@3.1.1 and @loopover/miner@3.1.1 are both live on npm, marked latest, with matching GitHub Releases. No 4.0.0/major bump was actually warranted — the "84 unreleased commits" and "4.0.0" proposal in this issue's original snapshot came from a heuristic that (correctly, per its own scoping logic) picked up an unrelated feat(loopover)! breaking-change commit that happened to touch one MCP-adjacent path incidentally.

Going forward, this exact tracking issue will auto-close itself when no longer due (fixed as part of this work), so a future instance of "MCP release due" reflects live pipeline state rather than a stale snapshot.
