Hello. It is a great package; I use it for almost all of my Python projects. But there are issues with typing (it fails mypy checking). Why don't you care about typing(e.g., stubs) & closing issues without proper explanation?

I'm not going to argue, I just want to know, why, any specific reasons?

Python purism is my guess. Maybe a concern with backward compatibility, but from what I have seen that isn't much of a concern for python package developers.

The same problem. New to Python, I’ve noticed that many devs, also lib authors, dislike typing, don't understand why.

A workaround I'm doing is using python's conversion functions such as int() or float(). It doesn't work all the time but fixes most of the problems

Sharing a stub I created for python-decouple. I placed it in etc/stubs/decouple.pyi and configured mypy to recognize it by adding the following to pyproject.toml:

@Xdynix: You might want to consider submitting that to the typeshed. That way people can use your stubs, just by adding types-decouple to their project.

I found this thread, was sad typing was still doodoo, but good news everyone:

Add it, and it will fix the "missing types" issue. It will also make you catch bugs like:

# I forgot the `cast=bool` here, which means the var will be a string, and the string "False" will typically be cast to `True` if used as `if MY_SETTING:`, as it's not an empty string.
MY_SETTING: bool = config("MY_SETTING", default=True)

That is such an evil bug that I've actually encountered because the types were missing...
